Ashleigh Montoney Davis, RYT 200

I am a Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher RYT 200, currently working towards the RYT 500. I have an additional 30 hours in yin yoga training, both certifications being under the teaching of Melissa Sebes, Empower Yoga. My teacher training focused on baptist power yoga and my personal asana practice consist of baptist power, yin, and ashtanga.

Meditation is what brought me to the physical practice of yoga in 2020. The yogic path is vast and diverse. The postural aspect of yoga (asana) are merely one part of the practice. Prasad Rangnekar said it best by stating “Some ideas, philosophies, & practices of Yoga simply cannot be simplified for everyone. They can only be grasp through understanding that emerges via expansion of consciousness (chetana), & this demands strong commitment, deep faith, & years of dedicated practice”.

My intention as a teacher, as a human being on this earth, is to continue to be a vessel for universal consciousness to flow through me, allowing a connection to those in my presence so that they can heal themselves and to further offer support with integrating these transformations into their physical reality. I am not an expert in yogic traditions or prescribe to any one path, but I have explored yoga in ways that have expanded my Being and it is in using this spaciousness that I have found purpose. A part of this purpose is guiding those through asana to reconnect their body, mind, and heart. As a mental health clinician, I use a trauma focused approach to embodied practices. Specifically, guiding those with the intent to heal trauma with focusing awareness to inward experiences while offering compassion and support for what arises. The creative forces within me have a passion to stay on the leading edge of how embodied practices can be interweaved into main stream mental health. I am currently engaging clients in EMDR therapy with a focus on somatic psychology.

It is a passion for me to be able to do this work. I incorporate embodied practices directly into my psychotherapy sessions, go into the community and offer group classes at schools, libraries, and businesses, and offer weekly yin yoga and mediation classes at the East Palestine Resiliency Center, which is where my office is located. In the past, I have offered private sessions and meditation yin classes but at this time do not have the availability. Contact me if you’re interested and I will stay in touch when space opens up.
